Chapter 39 - The Singapore Nexus

The transition from the neon-lit concrete canyons of Tokyo to the humid, ultra-modern maritime sprawl of Singapore was accomplished in the silent luxury of their private transport. As the aircraft touched down at Changi’s private executive terminal, the tropical dawn was breaking over the Malacca Strait, painting the horizon in streaks of brilliant crimson and gold.

Waiting for them on the tarmac was a secure delegation led by Marcus Vance—the rehabilitated regional director whose loyalty had been thoroughly tested and sealed following the European purge. He stood beside a sleek, armored transport, holding a secure data slate detailing the maritime logistics integration across the entire Southeast Asian shipping corridor.

"Mr. Moretti. Miss Dawson," Marcus greeted them briskly, handing the data slate to Claire as she stepped down from the aircraft. "The automated container hubs in the Port of Singapore have successfully synchronized with the Great Lakes and European logistics networks. We now have an unbroken, end-to-end monopoly on global maritime freight movement."

Claire scanned the rapid data streams cascading across the slate, her green eyes reflecting the bright morning light. "Any friction from local maritime unions or regional customs bureaus?"

"None," Marcus replied smoothly. "We adjusted their operational tariffs and provided them with automated security algorithms that eliminated harbor theft by ninety-nine percent. They view us less as corporate overlords and more as guardian deities."

Luca stepped down beside Claire, his gaze sweeping across the bustling harbor in the distance, where massive autonomous cargo carriers moved with clockwork precision. "People don't want freedom, Marcus," Luca said softly, his voice cutting through the humid morning air. "They want order, safety, and predictability. We provide all three, and in exchange, they hand us the world."
