Chapter 14 - New Beginnings

Spring arrived at the estate. The gardens blossomed with vivid cherry blossoms and white roses, filling the air with sweet fragrance.

I held a small, private gathering on the back terrace of Sterling Manor. There were no flashing news cameras, no high-society vultures, and no champagne towers built on vanity. Just a few genuine friends, Dr. Pendelton, Marcus Thorne, and Clara's family.

As the sun began to set behind the rolling hills, casting a warm golden glow across the terrace, I took Clara’s hand and led her down into the rose garden.

"A year ago, I thought my life was defined by the empire I built," I said, looking into her eyes. "I thought success meant having power, wealth, and prestige."

Clara smiled softly, her fingers interlaced with mine. "And what do you think now?"

"Now I know that power means nothing if you share it with the wrong people," I answered softly. "And wealth is completely worthless if you don't have someone genuine to share it with."

I reached into my suit pocket, pulling out a small velvet box.

I didn't offer her a massive seven-carat ring bought for corporate vanity. Inside was a delicate platinum band set with a single, flawless sapphire—simple, elegant, and timeless.

I looked into her eyes and spoke with absolute certainty.

"Clara, you stood by me when you thought I had nothing left to give. Will you stand by me for the rest of our lives... as my wife?"

Tears of pure happiness filled her eyes as she nodded softly. "Yes, Julian. A thousand times, yes."
