Chapter 12 - The Truth Exposed

Over the next forty-eight hours, the full extent of Tyler’s total collapse dominated local and national aviation news.

The FAA permanently revoked Tyler’s commercial pilot license, stripping him of his captain’s bars and placing him on the federal flight-prohibition registry. The airline terminated his employment with cause, revoking his pension and benefits. Faced with overwhelming digital evidence of wire fraud and unauthorized charter operations, Vanessa accepted a plea deal, agreeing to forfeit all illicit funds and serve eight years in federal prison.

Tyler, left with no money, no mistress, no career, and no allies, pleaded guilty to secondary corporate conspiracy and was sentenced to twenty-four months of federal probation and two thousand hours of community service, along with massive financial restitution.

On Friday morning, Eleanor Vance and I walked out of the Wayne County Circuit Court with a signed, sealed final divorce decree.

Under the judge’s ruling, I was awarded 100% sole legal and physical custody of Mason. The marital home was transferred entirely into my name, with Tyler’s name permanently removed from the deed. Every single penny of our $85,000 savings was returned to Mason’s protected trust fund, and Tyler was ordered to pay maximum monthly child support from whatever wage-garnished manual labor he could find.

Sitting in Eleanor’s car outside the courthouse, I looked down at the official blue seal on the final custody order.

The nightmare was finally over. The storm had passed, and the wreckage had been cleared away.
