Chapter 11 - The Secret Bunker—The Phantom Commander Unleashes Vanguard

By 09:00 a.m., the entire nation was gripped by the most shocking cascade of elite arrests in modern American history.

Inside the subterranean command bunker beneath the Federal District Court, an emergency closed-door grand jury had been assembled under the direct supervision of the Attorney General of the United States.

Leo Chen sat at the main terminal, routing the unassailable evidence compiled by Task Force Vanguard directly onto the screens of twelve federal prosecutors. Every transaction, every deleted campus video, every recorded bribe, and every medical forensic report was laid bare.

Chad Kensington, Brantley Sterling, and Wyatt Holbrook sat in separate, reinforced holding cells beneath the courthouse, stripped of their designer clothes and wearing standard orange federal inmate jumpsuits.

There were no high-priced private defense attorneys offering easy bail. There were no corrupt judges taking calls from senators. The special federal magistrate presiding over the case was an honorable veteran who had served under Vanguard in the early 2000s.

"Bail is denied on all counts," the Magistrate's voice echoed through the closed-circuit monitors. "The defendants pose an extraordinary flight risk and an existential danger to public justice. Trial is set for an expedited forty-five-day docket."

In the private holding corridor, Arthur Kensington, Senator Evelyn Sterling, and Richard Holbrook sat on steel benches under armed guard, waiting for their own arraignments on racketeering and treason charges.

When I walked down the corridor in my dark civilian coat, flanked by Marcus and Julian, the three disgraced titans looked up at me.

There was no rage left in their eyes. Only the profound, crushing realization of complete defeat.

"Alexander," Senator Sterling whispered, her voice cracked and hollow. "You destroyed three of the most powerful families in the country in less than ten hours... for one girl?"

I stopped in front of her cell.

"She wasn't just 'one girl,' Evelyn," I replied, my voice steady, deep, and filled with the absolute truth of a father’s soul. "She was my daughter. And if you had spent half as much time teaching your sons to be decent human beings as you did using your power to make them monsters, your dynasties would still be standing."

I turned my back on them and walked toward the exit, leaving the ghosts of their power behind forever.
