Chapter 14 - Blood on the Water

Gunther and Victor opened fire simultaneously.
They moved with lethal, synchronized precision, dropping the disorganized New York mercenaries.
Gunther grabbed Kayla by the waist and practically threw her behind a thick concrete barrier.
He shielded her body with his own as bullets chipped away at the stone around them.
The docks erupted into a full-scale war zone.
Lorenzo scrambled backward, bleeding from a deep cut on his forehead, entirely stripped of his aristocratic calm.
"Kill them!" Lorenzo screamed to his surviving men.
But the element of surprise was entirely gone.
Victor’s men pushed forward, forcing the Italians to retreat toward their remaining vehicles.
Gunther did not let up.
He leaned around the barrier, firing with cold, mechanical accuracy.
He shot the driver of Lorenzo’s escaping SUV, sending the vehicle crashing into a stack of empty crates.
Lorenzo crawled out of the wreckage, abandoning his men entirely.
He limped frantically toward the edge of the pier, desperately looking for an escape route.
Gunther stood up, his weapon raised, ready to end the New York boss permanently.
Suddenly, a loud explosion rocked the other side of the pier.
One of the Italian mercenaries had thrown a fragmentation grenade near Victor’s position.
Gunther whipped his head around, seeing his oldest friend thrown violently to the ground in a cloud of smoke.
He hesitated for a fraction of a second.
Lorenzo used the distraction to dive off the edge of the pier and plunge into the dark, icy water below.
Gunther swore viciously, but his priority was clear.
He ran over to Kayla, pulling her tightly against his chest.
"Are you hurt?" he demanded, his hands frantically checking her for wounds.
"No," Kayla breathed heavily, clutching his shirt.
"I am perfectly fine."
Gunther looked over at the crushed vehicles and the chaos she had caused.
He stared at his beautiful wife in absolute awe.
"You dropped a ten-ton container on them," he whispered, a fierce, proud smile breaking across his face.
May you like
"I told you," Kayla replied, her eyes burning with defiance.
"I am your logistics director."
