Chapter 5 - Rosalyn’s Golden Bail And The Vengeful Voicemails Left In The Middle Of The Night

Just as Detective Hayes had warned, Rosalyn’s high-priced legal team managed to secure her release on a $500,000 cash bond posted by her brother, the retired judge. Brandon remained behind bars due to the strangulation charge, but Rosalyn was out on the streets, wearing an ankle monitor and confined to her secondary residence.
She didn't stay quiet for long.
At 2:14 AM on a Thursday morning, my burner phone buzzed against the bedside nightstand. It was a restricted number. I tapped record on my laptop and answered without speaking.
The line hissed with static before Rosalyn’s venomous, aristocratic drawl filled the room.
"I know you think you've won something, Hannah," she said, her voice dripping with venom. "You think having Brandon locked in a county cell makes you powerful? You are a nobody from nowhere. My family has owned judges, mayors, and senators in this state for three generations."
I remained dead silent, letting the recorder capture every syllable.
"Listen to me carefully, you little parasite," she continued, her breathing shallow and ragged. "If you do not drop these criminal charges and sign over full legal custody of Liam to Brandon by Friday afternoon, I will make sure you never work in this state again. I will hire investigators to follow your sister. I will drag your late father’s name through the press until everyone believes he was an embezzler. You will lose your son, you will lose your freedom, and you will die broke and alone in a gutter."
"Are you done, Rosalyn?" I asked calmly.
A sharp intake of breath came over the line. She hadn't expected me to sound so steady.
"You don't frighten me anymore," I said slowly. "You are an old, bitter woman whose son is facing ten years in state prison because he followed your twisted orders. And right now, you just committed felony witness intimidation on a recorded line."
"You can't use that in court!" she screamed, losing all composure. "I have rights! I have—"
I ended the call and instantly forwarded the audio file to Detective Hayes and Evelyn Cross.
Ten minutes later, Evelyn called back.
"Hannah, that recording is gold," Evelyn said, her voice buzzing with excitement. "Rosalyn’s bail conditions explicitly prohibited her from contacting you directly, indirectly, or through third parties. She just signed her own arrest warrant for bail revocation."

"How fast can they pick her up?" I asked.
"The warrant is being signed by Judge Miller right now," Evelyn replied. "By sunrise, Rosalyn will be sitting in a holding cell right next to her golden boy."
