Chapter 14 - The Bankruptcy of a Narcissist and the Restitution of Every Stolen Dime

The legal aftermath was swift, brutal, and utterly comprehensive.

Within forty-eight hours, the federal court unsealed the full indictment against Julian Vance and Victoria Sterling. Faced with the mountain of indisputable digital forensics, server backups, video evidence, and Sarah Jenkins's devastating whistleblower testimony, Victoria turned on Julian completely within three days, attempting to plead guilty in exchange for a reduced sentence.

Her betrayal didn't save her.

Judge Harrison, presiding over the federal district court, rejected their plea bargains for leniency. Victoria Sterling was sentenced to seven years in a federal correctional facility for conspiracy, identity theft, and corporate embezzlement, along with a multi-million-dollar restitution judgment that wiped out every asset she possessed.

Julian’s fate was even more severe.

Convicted of twelve counts of federal wire fraud, aggravated identity theft, securities fraud, and attempted judicial fraud through the falsification of medical incompetency documents, Julian was sentenced to fourteen years in federal prison without the possibility of parole.

Every single legal document Julian had forged was declared null and void ab initio by the state Supreme Court.

The craftsman home on 8th Avenue was restored entirely and unconditionally to my sole ownership. Every dollar of the $4.2 million stolen from my father's inheritance was recovered from the intercepted escrow accounts and returned to the family trust, along with an additional $2.5 million in punitive damages seized from Julian's personal holdings and liquidated luxury vehicles.

The Vance Logistics Group was dissolved, its legitimate software assets and client accounts transferred into a brand-new entity titled Vance Heritage Operations—owned 100% by me, with Sarah Jenkins installed as the Vice President of Operations.

Julian sat in a holding cell at the federal detention center in Florence, Colorado, wearing an orange jumpsuit, his empire shattered, his reputation eradicated, and his financial standing reduced to absolute zero.

He had tried to leave me with nothing. In the end, he was the one who lost every single thing he had ever touched.
