Chapter 13 - The Criminal Indictments and Federal Arrests

In June, the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois handed down the final criminal sentences for Julian Vance and Evelyn Cross-Kowalski.

The federal jury had deliberated for less than thirty minutes before returning unanimous guilty verdicts on all counts:

Wire Fraud and Bank Fraud.

Theft of Trade Secrets and Economic Espionage.

Aggravated Identity Theft.

Obstruction of Justice and Perjury.

Judge Evelyn Martinez delivered the sentences without a shred of leniency:

Julian Vance: Sentenced to Twelve Years at Terre Haute Federal Correctional Institution, with mandatory forfeiture of all personal assets and a permanent lifetime ban from holding corporate directorships.

As the heavy iron doors closed behind them, their names were permanently wiped from the architectural registry of the state.
