Chapter 11 - The Nails & Lies Empire Crumbles

With the restraining orders and eviction warrants officially signed by the court, Hannah oversaw the complete purge of Ashley’s commercial nail salon.
A commercial moving crew arrived at Magnolia Court on Thursday morning, backed by two armed sheriff's deputies. The large purple sign reading 'Ashley's Velvet Touch Salon & Spa' was unbolted from the exterior wall and dropped into a commercial dumpster with a satisfying, hollow thud.
Inside the annex, workers cleared out the velvet manicure stations, the pedicure massage chairs, and shelves lined with expensive imported polishes—all purchased with the money stolen from Hannah’s household accounts.
A local independent auditor, hired by Captain Ramirez, stood by the door cataloging every piece of commercial equipment. Under Florida civil asset forfeiture and restitution laws, all assets recovered from the unlicensed salon were seized to offset the medical bills and financial theft inflicted upon Hannah and Lily.
As the crew worked, a silver sedan pulled up to the curb. Out stepped Chloe, holding Lily’s hand.
Lily had been officially discharged from the hospital that morning. She was dressed in a bright yellow sundress, her curls freshly washed and brushed into neat pigtails, holding a brand-new teddy bear Chloe had bought her.
When Lily saw the salon sign sitting in the dumpster, she looked up at Hannah with wide, questioning eyes.
"Mommy? Is Aunt Ashley's store gone?" Lily asked softly.
Hannah knelt down to her daughter’s eye level, taking both of Lily’s small, healthy hands into her own.
"Yes, my sweet girl," Hannah smiled warmly. "The store is gone. And do you know what we’re going to do with this big room instead?"
Lily tilted her head. "What?"
"We are going to paint the walls lavender, put in huge bookshelves, install a giant art easel, and turn it into your very own private playroom and art studio."
Lily’s eyes lit up with pure joy. A radiant, genuine smile spread across her face—the first real smile Hannah had seen since returning home.

"Really, Mommy?! My own art room?!"
"Really, baby," Hannah said, kissing Lily’s cheek. "Nobody will ever take your happiness away again."
