Chapter 15 - The Lion’s Eternal Vow and the Dawn of a Free Life

One year later.
The summer sun sparkled over the private estate on the shores of Lake Geneva. White ribbons fluttered in the warm breeze, and the scent of blooming jasmine filled the air.
Sebastian Lombardi had completely restructured his empire, divesting from all illicit street operations and transitioning his vast holdings into legitimate international shipping, green infrastructure, and the world’s largest pediatric medical foundation—The Oliver Bennett Institute for Respiratory Health.
Standing at the end of the flower-lined altar in a pristine tuxedo, Sebastian stood tall, broad-shouldered and completely healed. He watched as the music shifted to the wedding march.
Oliver, dressed in a matching miniature tuxedo, walked proudly down the aisle as the ring bearer, tossing flower petals with boundless energy and healthy lungs.
And then came Clare.
She wore an exquisite ivory lace gown, her veil catching the golden sunlight, her eyes locked onto Sebastian’s with radiant love.
When her father’s place at her side remained symbolically honored by a single white rose in her bouquet, Sebastian stepped forward to take her hand, leading her up the altar steps.
“You look breathtaking,” he whispered.
“You look like a man who kept every single promise,” she smiled softly.
The minister spoke the ancient vows of commitment and love, but when it came time for the exchange of rings, Sebastian took Clare’s trembling hands in his own.
“Clare,” Sebastian said, his deep voice carrying across the gathered guests with profound emotion. “You walked into my darkness when everyone else had abandoned me. You touched a broken man and gave him the strength to stand. But more than that, you gave my life a purpose. I vow to protect you, to cherish Oliver as my own son, and to love you with every beat of the heart you saved.”
Clare looked into the eyes of the man who had moved mountains to save her family.
“Sebastian,” she said, her voice ringing clear and true. “You gave my son his breath, and you gave me a love that fears nothing. I promise to stand by you, to hold your hand through every storm, and to build a life of peace and joy together.”
“By the power vested in me,” the minister announced, “I now pronounce you husband and wife. You may kiss your bride.”
Sebastian drew Clare into his arms, lifting her slightly as he pressed his lips to hers under the warm afternoon sun. The guests erupted into cheers, Oliver jumping up and down with excitement, throwing his hands in the air.
When they parted, Sebastian looked down at his wife and his son, the lake stretching out before them, bright, peaceful, and endless.
