Chapter 12 - The Lost Platinum Watch and the Promise of a Dying Father

Before Marco’s fingers could clear his holster, Sebastian moved with explosive, terrifying violence.

He stepped forward, his left hand striking Marco’s wrist in a brutal disarming maneuver, while his right hand drove the heavy silver head of his cane directly into Marco’s solar plexus.

Marco collapsed to his knees, gasping for air, clutching his shattered ribs.

Sebastian looked down at him with cold disdain. He reached into his vest pocket and pulled out a vintage platinum Patek Philippe watch—scratched, scorched by bomb fire, but ticking with steady precision.

He tossed it onto the floor in front of Marco.

“You left this in the wreckage of my car seven years ago,” Sebastian said, his voice echoing with absolute finality. “You thought you buried me. But all you did was give me time to find someone who could put me back together.”

He turned slightly, his dark eyes meeting Clare’s across the short distance. The respect and devotion in his gaze were unmistakable.

Sebastian addressed the council of capos. “Marco Lombardi attempted to assassinate an innocent woman and a sick child in my home tonight. He violated the fundamental laws of this commission. What is the sentence?”

The oldest capo, Don Carmine, stood up slowly, raising his right hand.

“Death,” Carmine declared without hesitation.

Marco began to sob, crawling backward on his knees. “Sebastian! Please! We’re blood! We’re family!”

“My family is in this room,” Sebastian replied coldly, turning his back on Marco. “Gabriel. Remove the garbage.”

Gabriel and two enforcers hauled Marco out through the service exits. A single muffled shot echoed from the alley behind the hotel moments later, followed by total silence.
