Chapter 11 - A City On Fire: The Manhunt For The Coward Who Hurt Me

Within two hours of the clinic ambush, Ronan Hayes unleashed the full, terrifying might of his empire.
The docks were locked down by private security contractors. Every shipping container belonging to the Moretti family was seized by federal customs agents under Ronan’s payroll. The state police raided seven illegal gambling dens and money-laundering fronts across the city, arresting thirty-five high-ranking Moretti lieutenants in a single coordinated sweep.
Inside the Hayes Tower war room, massive digital monitors tracked every vehicle, bank account, and phone signal linked to Leo Moretti.
Ronan stood before the screens, issuing cold, surgical orders to his commanders.
“Cut their power. Freeze their offshore accounts. Intercept their communications,” Ronan ordered. “I want Leo Moretti trapped in a cage with no money, no weapons, and no escape routes.”
By midnight, Leo Moretti was cornered inside an abandoned warehouse near the industrial shipyards, surrounded by fifty elite Hayes tactical operators.
Vance walked into the war room, bowing his head. “Boss, we have Leo Moretti in custody. He surrendered without firing a shot. He’s begging for a meeting.”
Ronan turned from the screens, his eyes resting on me where I sat on the leather sofa, holding a cup of tea.
“Do you want to come with me, Sadie?” Ronan asked gently.

I set the cup down and stood up, smoothing the front of my dark sweater.
“Yes,” I said without hesitation. “I’m done hiding behind locked doors.”
