Chapter 9 - The Shocking DNA Results
In the concrete hallway, Jonathan fought off three armed guards, using the heavy extinguisher and precision strikes to incapacitate the attackers and force the corrupt attorney back toward the stairwell.
Behind him, the heavy laboratory door clicked open.
Dr. Sarah Miller emerged, holding an embossed report. Her hands were shaking.
"Did it confirm Elena?" Jonathan asked, catching his breath.
"Yes. Elena Vance is Emma’s biological mother with a 99.999% statistical probability," Sarah said. "But Jonathan... there is something else."
"What is it?"
Sarah pointed to the familial lineage breakdown on the report. "When Celeste and Richard orchestrated this theft, they didn't choose Elena at random. Elena’s late mother was your mother’s estranged half-sister. Elena Vance is your biological first cousin!"
Jonathan froze in shock.
"Emma is your biological first-cousin-once-removed!" Sarah revealed, tears in her eyes. "She carries the true, unbroken Sterling bloodline! Under the original terms of Grandfather’s will, Emma is the sole legitimate and biological heir to the seventy-million-dollar estate!"
