Chapter 7 - The Amber Alert and the Legal Trap
Thirty miles away, in the high-rise offices of Sterling Legal Associates, Celeste was orchestrating a massive smear campaign.
She held an emergency press conference, weeping before television cameras: "My brother-in-law Jonathan has suffered a violent mental breakdown and abducted my niece!"
By noon, emergency alerts flashed across every major news network:
AMBER ALERT: 6-YEAR-OLD EMMA STERLING ABDUCTED BY ARMED SUSPECT JONATHAN STERLING.
In the parked sedan, Elena gasped as the alert popped up on her phone. "They’re trying to get the police to shoot you on sight!"
"They want to eliminate me before we can reach the courthouse," Jonathan said firmly. "We need one final, unassailable piece of evidence: A certified forensic DNA test that proves you are her mother and completely destroys their custody claim."
