Chapter 14 - THE AFTERMATH AND THE HEALING

Two weeks later, the headlines across every major news outlet in the country read:
“HIGH-SOCIETY FRAUD EXPOSED: HOW A $20,000 WEDDING CAKE CRASH BROUGHT DOWN A CRIMINAL EMPIRE.”
Victoria Vance was denied bail, awaiting trial in a maximum-security federal facility where her expensive designer clothes were replaced by an orange jumpsuit.
The stolen trust fund was officially unfrozen and restored to its rightful heir.
Michael and Sarah decided to postpone their wedding rather than cancel it completely.
They wanted a ceremony built on truth, not lies.
And on a bright, crisp Saturday afternoon, Arthur Pendelton sat in the front row of a quiet garden chapel, wearing a brand-new tuxedo bought for him by his daughter.
I stood beside Sarah as her maid of honor, holding her bouquet while she adjusted her veil.
“Are you nervous?” I asked, smiling.
“Not at all,” Sarah replied, looking out at the guests.
“For the first time in my life, I know exactly who I am.”
“And exactly where I come from.”
The violin music began to play.
Arthur stood up, offering his arm to his daughter with a proud, radiant smile.

As Sarah took his arm to walk down the aisle toward Michael, I wiped a stray tear from my cheek.
Sometimes, the worst disasters in life are just the universe breaking down your walls so the truth can finally shine through.
