Chapter 6 - The Raid on the Pasadena Mansion

By 1:00 PM that afternoon, a convoy of four Los Angeles County Sheriff vehicles, accompanied by forensic accountants and private security, pulled up to the gated entrance of the nine-million-dollar Pasadena estate.
Connor, Linda, and Blake had been released on temporary judicial recognizance after their high-powered attorneys posted emergency bail for the state charges, but the federal asset freeze was already locking down their lives like a vice.
When Connor and Linda pulled into the driveway in their rented Mercedes, they were met with an unbelievable scene.
Dozens of sheriff’s deputies and private moving crews were already clearing out the mansion. Huge yellow legal notices were taped across the front double doors, declaring the property seized by court order and returned to the sole possession of Madison Carter.
"Stop! What are you doing?!" Linda screamed, jumping out of the car and running toward the porch, only to be physically blocked by two armed deputies. "This is my house! You cannot touch my furniture!"
"Actually, Mrs. Vance, it was never your house," the head deputy replied calmly, holding up a certified writ of repossession. "The fraudulent transfer has been voided by the court. Furthermore, an immediate writ of attachment has been granted to Marcus Carter to recover all personal property and liquid assets to satisfy the sixteen-million-dollar civil fraud lien."
Connor ran up behind his mother, his expensive suit disheveled, sweat pouring down his forehead. "Madison! Where is she?! Let me talk to her!"
The front door of the mansion opened. Madison walked out onto the stone terrace, wearing sunglasses and holding a cup of tea. Beside her stood two private security guards and a forensic team carrying heavy metal lockboxes out of the master bedroom.
"Madison, baby, please!" Connor pleaded, his voice breaking into a desperate whine. "This is all a huge misunderstanding! My mother... she pushed me into this! I never wanted to hurt you or Ethan! You know I love you!"
Madison took off her sunglasses and looked down at him from the top of the marble steps. "You loved my father’s money, Connor. You loved the sports cars, the private jets, and the status. When I was crying on the floor with our screaming baby, you stepped over me to go to a party with your friends. You let your mother starve me. You are a coward."

"I am the father of your child!" Connor yelled, his eyes wild with desperation.
"Biologically, yes," Madison said cold as ice. "Morally, you are nothing to him. And starting today, you will never see his face again."
