Chapter 4 - THE FROZEN ACCOUNTS

The private banking suite on the 40th floor overlooked the city skyline.
Sarah sat calmly in a plush leather armchair.
Her attorney, a sharp woman named Victoria Vance, slid a tablet across the mahogany table.
“All personal accounts linked to Alessandro’s primary holding company have been frozen,” Victoria said.
Sarah took a sip of her black coffee.
“On what grounds?”
“Fraudulent asset concealment,” Victoria replied. “We proved he diverted family trust funds to Valeria’s shell corporation.”
The glass door swung open violently.
Alessandro burst into the room.
His face was pale with fury, his tie slightly crooked.
Two private bodyguards hovered behind him, but security guards blocked their path.
“Sarah!” Alessandro shouted, slamming his palms on the table.
Sarah didn’t flinch.
She slowly set her coffee cup down.
“You’re trespassing, Alessandro,” Sarah said calmly.
“Drop the freeze on my accounts right now!” Alessandro demanded, his voice echoing off the glass walls.
“Those accounts contain commingled marital assets,” Victoria intervened smoothly. “And my client has exercised her legal right to secure her share.”
Alessandro turned his dark eyes back to his wife.
The man who had commanded fear across the city looked unraveled.
“You think you can destroy me over a mistress?” Alessandro hissed.
“You destroyed yourself the moment you brought her to the table,” Sarah said, standing up.
She walked slowly toward him.
She stopped just inches away.
She looked into the eyes of the man she had loved for eleven years.
There was no warmth left in them.
Only raw, desperate panic.
“Valeria is moving out of my house today,” Sarah whispered.
“You wouldn’t dare,” Alessandro warned.
“Try me,” Sarah said.
She reached out and adjusted his crooked tie with her fingertips.
“Enjoy being broke, Alessandro.”
She walked past him toward the private elevator.
Victoria followed closely behind.
Alessandro stood frozen in the center of the room.
His phone buzzed violently in his pocket.
He pulled it out with shaking hands.
It was a text from his chief financial officer.
Sir, all offshore accounts have just been locked by federal authorities.
May you like
Alessandro dropped his phone onto the carpet.
