Chapter 9 - The Boardroom Coup: Stripping Harrison of His Crown

Two hours after the public catastrophe at the Botanical Gardens, the top floor of Blake Tower was locked down by private security contractors hired directly by Simone.

Inside the grand boardroom, the twelve members of the Blake Enterprises Board of Directors sat in tense, absolute silence. At the head of the forty-foot glass table sat Diane Foster, Francine Ortiz, and Simone Blake.

The double doors opened, and Harrison stumbled in, flanked by two armed security guards who ensured he kept his hands out of his pockets. His tie was gone, his collar torn, and his eyes were wild with desperation.

“Members of the board!” Harrison pleaded, slamming his palms onto the glass table. “You cannot allow this! My father built this company! My family’s name is on the building! Simone is an outsider who is using marital leverage to stage an illegal hostile takeover!”

Diane Foster stood up, opening a thick leather binder and sliding certified legal documents down the center of the table.

“Mr. Blake,” Diane announced in a crisp, authoritative baritone. “Under the legally binding terms of the Arthur Blake Family Trust and the Infidelity Morality Clause 22, verified by Judge Martinez of the U.S. District Court this morning, one hundred percent of your forty-five percent voting equity in Blake Enterprises has been permanently assigned to Simone Blake as legal guardian of the next direct heir.”

The board chairman, a distinguished silver-haired billionaire named George Vance, adjusted his glasses and looked at Harrison with cold disdain.

“Harrison,” George Vance stated flatly. “We have reviewed the forensic records. You used company container vessels to smuggle contraband for an international crime syndicate. You exposed this corporation to billions of dollars in federal liability. You embezzled $2.4 million in foundation funds to buy gifts for your mistress. You are an absolute disgrace to your father’s memory.”

“George! Please! I’m Arthur’s son!” Harrison cried, tears finally spilling down his cheeks.

“And Arthur was smart enough to write a clause that protected us from your utter incompetence,” George replied coldly. He raised his hand. “All in favor of ratifying Simone Blake as Chairman of the Board and permanent Chief Executive Officer, raise your hands.”

All twelve board members raised their hands without a second of hesitation.

“The motion is carried unanimously,” George declared.

Simone looked across the long table at the broken, weeping man who had thought he could destroy her life.

“Harrison Blake,” Simone said with razor-sharp finality. “You are officially terminated from Blake Enterprises. Your corporate credit cards have been canceled. Your security clearance is revoked. Security will now escort you out of the building to the street with nothing but the clothes on your back.”

The two security guards grabbed Harrison by the arms, dragging him backward out of the boardroom as he screamed and cursed Simone’s name.

Simone turned to the board members, her voice calm, commanding, and visionary.

“Gentlemen and ladies. Blake Enterprises is under new management. Let’s clean up the rot and get to work.”
