Chapter 8 - Julian’s Freezing Bank Accounts

At 11:30 a.m., Julian was sitting in the lobby of a high-end luxury hotel in downtown Boston, trying to check into an executive suite using his personal credit cards.
"I'm sorry, Mr. Vance," the front desk clerk said, handing back three platinum cards. "All of these cards have been declined by the issuing bank."
"That's impossible!" Julian snapped, slamming his fist onto the marble counter. "I have two hundred thousand dollars in my checking account! Run it again!"
"Sir, the system returns a code 'ASSET FREEZE - FEDERAL ORDER'. We cannot accept these cards."
Julian rushed to the hotel ATM, inserted his debit card, and entered his PIN.
The screen flashed red:
ACCOUNT BALANCE: $0.00.
STATUS: FROZEN BY ORDER OF THE UNITED STATES DISTRICT COURT.
Julian dropped to his knees in the middle of the crowded hotel lobby, clutching his head in his hands.
His credit cards were dead. His bank accounts were wiped. His company car was locked down by GPS immobilization. And his mistress was currently being hunted by federal prosecutors.
His phone buzzed. It was a text message from Camilla:

Julian stared at the screen, the reality of his total, absolute ruin crashing down upon him like a tidal wave.
