Chapter 6 - The Mansion Eviction

At 3:30 a.m., I arrived at our historic four-story brownstone in the exclusive Beacon Hill neighborhood of Boston.

The house was dark and quiet.

I had bought this brownstone six years ago, two years before I met Julian, using my own personal funds. Because Julian had an inferiority complex about my family's wealth, I had allowed him to tell his friends that "we" bought it together.

A commercial locksmith van was already parked in the driveway.

Within forty minutes, every single exterior lock, electronic keypad, and garage door opener had been completely replaced with biometric military-grade hardware.

Three professional movers were carrying four large black trash bags containing Julian’s designer suits, shoes, and golf clubs, placing them neatly onto the brick sidewalk outside the iron front gate.

At 4:45 a.m., an Uber pulled up to the curb.

Julian stumbled out, his tuxedo wrinkled, his hair disheveled, smelling heavily of bourbon. He saw the black trash bags on the sidewalk, then looked up at the front door where I was standing on the stone porch, wrapped in a warm cashmere sweater.

"Audrey!" Julian yelled, rushing to the iron gate. He grabbed the bars, trying to push it open, but the new electronic lock held firm. "What is this?! This is my home! You can't lock me out of my own house!"

"This house is registered solely under the Eleanor Vance Trust, Julian," I said, looking down at him from the top step. "You have never paid a single dollar toward the property taxes, the maintenance, or the mortgage. Your name is nowhere on the deed."

"I am your husband!" he shrieked. "Under Massachusetts law, I have marital property rights! I will take half of this house in the divorce! I will take half of Northstar Holdings!"

"You signed a comprehensive prenuptial agreement four years ago, Julian," I reminded him with a cold, quiet smile. "The one where you specifically waived all rights to my pre-marital assets, my family trusts, and any corporate holdings. And there is a specific moral turpitude clause: any proven infidelity or financial fraud results in the immediate forfeiture of all spousal support."

Julian froze. His hands slipped from the cold iron bars, his face turning an ashen, sickly gray.

"You... you planned this," he whispered.

"No, Julian," I said softly. "You planned your own destruction. I just made sure you had an audience."
