Chapter 15 - A Sunset Gala on the Boston Harbor

One year after the night of the twentieth-anniversary gala, the top floor of the Boston Harbor Hotel was glowing with golden light.

Aurelia Systems had just posted record-breaking quarterly profits, its stock reaching an all-time high valuation of five billion dollars.

The ballroom was filled with music, laughter, and the joyful energy of eight hundred employees celebrating a year of unprecedented triumph.

I stood on the expansive open-air terrace overlooking the sparkling blue waters of the harbor, holding a glass of vintage champagne. The cool evening breeze rustled the silk of my elegant emerald green gown.

Beside me stood David Cole—the brilliant forensic investigator who had stood by my side through the darkest days of the audit, and the man who had slowly, patiently won my heart with his unwavering honesty, quiet strength, and genuine love.

David smiled warmly, reaching over to gently take my hand in his.

"What are you thinking about, Audrey?" David whispered.

I looked out over the sparkling city lights, the historic skyline of Boston, and the thriving company that carried my family's legacy forward into the light.

"I'm thinking about how sweet freedom tastes," I smiled, leaning my head against his shoulder.

"To the queen of Northstar," David toasted, clinking his glass against mine.

"To a brand-new life," I replied.

As the fireworks erupted over the harbor, painting the night sky in brilliant bursts of gold and emerald light, I knew that the shadows of my past were gone forever.
