Chapter 12 - In The Boardroom of Wolves: The Analyst Who Demolished A Seven-Figure Fraud in Twenty Minutes

Norah opened her black leather briefcase and pulled out three bound ledgers stamped with the official seal of the Department of Justice and the Securities and Exchange Commission.

“Gentlemen,” Norah said, addressing the federal agents with absolute composure. “Let’s talk about reconciliation controls.”

She slid the first ledger across the table.

“Page 42. The IP address that initiated the offshore transfer on November 14th did not originate from my laptop. It originated from the private suite of the Crane Penthouse in Tribeca—specifically, from Sebastian Crane’s personal MAC address.”

Sebastian’s smirk vanished.

Norah slid the second document forward.

“Page 88. The routing numbers match an account held under the name of Julianne Vance, Sebastian’s current partner. They transferred the money out of Crane Enterprises to stage an insurance fraud scheme and pinned the digital footprint on my deactivated corporate credentials.”

The lead agent’s eyes narrowed as he examined the cryptographic server logs Norah provided.

“Where did you get these server validations?” the agent asked, stunned.

“I built the internal security infrastructure of Crane Enterprises six years ago,” Norah replied with a cold, triumphant smile. “I know every backdoor, every log archive, and every encryption key in that building. You brought an amateur fraud scheme to the person who designed the security system.”

The second federal agent turned slowly toward Sebastian.

“Mr. Crane, did you file a false federal declaration?”

Sebastian started backing toward the door, sweating profusely. “No! It’s a setup! She’s lying! Julianne, tell them!”

Julianne Vance burst into tears by the door. “I didn't know it was illegal! Sebastian told me it was tax optimization!”

The lead agent snapped his handcuffs from his belt.

“Sebastian Crane, you are under arrest for federal securities fraud, filing a false police report, and conspiracy to commit bank fraud.”
