Chapter 11 - The Ex-Husband's Desperate Trap: The Fake Audit and The Threat of Federal Prison

Three weeks later, Sebastian Crane made his final, pathetic move.

Facing total bankruptcy, Sebastian hired a corrupt federal auditor to file a fabricated whistle-blower complaint against Norah.

He claimed that during her final months at Crane Enterprises, Norah had embezzled $8 million from client trust accounts and hidden the funds in offshore accounts before marrying Luca Castellano.

At 9:00 AM on a Tuesday, two federal agents arrived at the Castellano financial offices in Midtown Manhattan with a subpoena.

Behind them, wearing a smug, desperate smirk, walked Sebastian Crane accompanied by four television news crews he had tipped off himself.

“She’s a criminal!” Sebastian shouted to the cameras gathered outside the lobby. “She stole from my firm to buy her way into high society! Today, justice will be served!”

Inside the glass boardroom on the 40th floor, Norah sat at the head of the conference table.

Beside her sat three high-powered defense attorneys.

Luca sat in the corner, calmly sipping an espresso, showing no sign of concern.

The lead auditor slammed the subpoena on the table.

“Mrs. Castellano, we have sworn statements from Mr. Crane and ledger receipts indicating you transferred funds to an account in the Cayman Islands three days before your divorce.”

Sebastian walked into the room, leaning over the table with venomous joy.

“You’re going to federal prison for ten years, Norah. Let’s see your mafia husband save you from a federal penitentiary!”

Norah smiled calmly.

“Are you done, Sebastian?”
