Chapter 12 - The Legal Vengeance

Back in the municipal courts, the legal machinery was grinding to an inevitable, unyielding conclusion.

Marcus Vance sat across from the district attorney in a sunlit conference room downtown, reviewing the final indictment package against Florence Fairmont. The evidence was staggering: digital forensics, forensic accounting trails, audio recordings, witness affidavits from Christina and Rebecca, and the physical confession notes recovered from Florence's apartment.

“She’s trying to cut a plea deal,” the district attorney noted, sliding a paper across the table. “Her defense counsel is arguing that the asset transfers were merely ‘pre-nuptial negotiations’ and that the physical altercation with Christina was an isolated domestic dispute.”

Marcus let out a sharp, dismissive laugh.

“Pre-nuptial negotiations involving forged corporate signatures and a stolen IP address?” Marcus raised an eyebrow. “Tell her defense counsel they can take their plea deal and shred it. We have bank logs proving she funneled funds into an unregistered offshore shell company before the wedding even date-stamped. That elevates it from standard fraud to grand federal larceny.”

“Will Jonathan want to testify?” the DA asked.

“If he has to,” Marcus replied firmly. “But between the USB drive Leo handed over and the digital trail, we don't even need him on the stand. Florence walked right into her own trap. She thought she was marrying an aging man for his money; she didn't realize she was stepping into a titanium-clad legal cage.”

The DA nodded, signing the finalized indictment forms. “Trial’s set for next month. With these charges, she’s looking at a minimum of twelve years without parole.”

Marcus packed his leather briefcase with a satisfied smile. Florence Fairmont’s ambition had built her a mountain of lies, and now, the legal system was about to bury her under it.
