Chapter 10 - The Boardroom Reclamation

The following Monday morning marked the official restructuring of Prescott Enterprises.
The executive boardroom was packed. Senior vice presidents, regional directors, and the entire legal compliance team sat around the long mahogany table. The mood was tense; everyone knew about the averted crisis and the internal audit that had exposed Florence’s systematic embezzlement.
Jonathan walked into the room precisely at 9:00 AM. He wasn't wearing his usual conciliatory expression. He looked sharp, focused, and re-energized—the exact titan of industry who had built the company from the ground up four decades ago.
He took his seat at the head of the table, placing his hands flat on the polished wood.
“Good morning, everyone,” Jonathan’s voice resonated through the silent room. “Before we review the quarterly performance metrics, I want to address the elephant in the room.”
He glanced around the table, meeting the eyes of every executive present.
“Over the past two years, an individual exploited my personal trust to infiltrate the highest levels of this corporation,” Jonathan continued, his tone unwavering. “She attempted to execute unauthorized asset transfers and siphon funds from our philanthropic trusts. That attempt has been fully neutralized, and federal authorities are ensuring accountability.”
Murmurs of agreement and supportive nods rippled through the boardroom.
“More importantly,” Jonathan went on, a faint edge of pride entering his voice, “this crisis taught us a vital lesson about oversight, security, and the danger of complacency. Moving forward, every single financial transaction, asset transfer, and administrative appointment will require dual executive authorization—starting with my own office.”
Marcus Vance, sitting near the center, gave a subtle, approving nod and opened his briefcase to distribute the new compliance framework documents.

“We built Prescott Enterprises on transparency, grit, and family values,” Jonathan concluded, standing up slightly to address the room with renewed authority. “A parasite tried to hollow it out from the inside. But we survived, and we are stronger for it. Now, let’s get to work.”
The applause that followed wasn't polite or obligatory. It was loud, genuine, and filled with a renewed respect for a leader who had stared down betrayal and emerged victorious.
