Chapter 9 - THE CLEANUP

The sun had dipped below the horizon by the time the federal marshals and local harbor police cleared the scene at Pier 44.
Arthur Sinclair’s body had been bagged and removed. His remaining loyalists were lined up in handcuffs against the brick wall of the pier, waiting to be transported to federal custody.
Adrien walked Isabella to the backseat of his armored Mercedes, gently shielding her head as she climbed inside.
Marcus Bennett leaned against the passenger door, holding a thick manila folder.
"The Sinclair estate is officially frozen by the federal treasury," Marcus reported quietly to Adrien as he closed the rear door. "Every remaining asset in Zurich and the Cayman Islands has been seized under the RICO Act. The syndicate is completely dismantled."
Adrien nodded, his expression grim. "And Vanessa?"
"Interpol picked her up at the Zurich airport three hours ago," Marcus said. "She's being extradited to face federal forgery and conspiracy charges. She won't see daylight for twenty years."
Adrien looked through the tinted window of the car at Isabella, who was resting her head against the leather upholstery, her eyes closed in exhaustion.
"Make sure our medical team checks her twice a day for the next month," Adrien told Marcus. "I don't want any risks."
"Already handled," Marcus said, patting Adrien on the shoulder. "Go home, boss. You've won."
Adrien climbed into the driver’s seat, pulled the heavy door shut, and started the engine.

The car glided away from the docks, leaving the cold, damp harbor behind them as they headed back toward the sanctuary of the Moretti estate.
