Chapter 13 - THE RECONCILIATION

Three days later, the storm had passed, leaving Boston under a brilliant, cloudless autumn sky.

Isabella sat propped up in the hospital bed, holding their daughter—named Elena Moretti—while sunlight streamed through the window.

The door opened softly.

Clara walked in, carrying a large bouquet of white roses and a thermos of homemade soup.

She stopped at the foot of the bed, her eyes filling with tears as she looked at her granddaughter.

"She has your eyes, Bella," Clara whispered, setting the flowers down gently.

"And her father's stubbornness," Isabella smiled, looking up at Adrien, who stood by the window with his hands in his pockets, watching them both with an expression of profound, unshakable peace.

Clara walked over, kissed Isabella’s forehead, and then turned to Adrien.

"You did good, Adrien," Clara said, her voice softening. "You kept your promise."

"I always keep my promises to my family," Adrien replied quietly.

After Clara stepped out to give them a moment alone, Adrien walked over to the bed, sitting down on the edge of the mattress next to Isabella.

He reached out, gently supporting Elena’s tiny head in his large, scarred hand, marveling at how fragile and precious life could be.

"She's perfect, Bella," Adrien murmured. "Just like her mother."

Isabella leaned her head against his shoulder, breathing in the familiar scent of cedar and rain.

"We won, didn't we?" she whispered.

Adrien pressed his lips to her forehead, his arm wrapping securely around them both.
