Chapter 11 - The Lion’s Fury and the Housekeeper’s Courage

The sound of three roaring V8 engines tore through the afternoon air like thunderclaps.

Vincent’s custom armored matte-black SUV plowed directly into the rear sedan of the ambushers, sending the vehicle spinning into a massive oak tree. Four more Moretti security vehicles flanked the intersection, cutting off every possible avenue of escape.

Vincent was the first out of the vehicle.

He was a force of pure, untamed destruction. Moving with lethal tactical precision, Vincent and his elite strike team dismantled the remaining mercenaries within ninety seconds. There was no hesitation, no mercy, and no quarter given to anyone who dared threaten his family.

When the last attacker was disarmed and pinned to the pavement, Vincent bolted toward the Maybach.

“Open the door, Marco!” Vincent roared, slamming his fist against the reinforced glass.

Marco unlocked the hydraulic seals. The heavy door swung open, and Vincent practically threw himself into the rear cabin.

“Bella! Ellie! Clara!”

I was still sitting on the floorboards, the tactical weapon held safely pointed at the floor, breathing heavily with adrenaline coursing through my veins. Both girls were huddled beneath my arms, terrified but completely unharmed.

Vincent dropped to his knees on the floor of the SUV, pulling all three of us into his massive, trembling arms. His heartbeat was pounding violently against his chest, his hands frantically checking our faces, our arms, our hair.

“We’re okay, Vincent,” I gasped, throwing my arms around his neck. “We’re okay! The armored glass held, and I stopped the breaching charge!”

Vincent pulled back, his eyes wide with a mixture of shock, awe, and overwhelming adoration as he saw the weapon in my hand.

“You neutralized the breacher?” Vincent asked, his voice breathless.

Marco looked back through the partition, giving a proud salute. “The future Mrs. Moretti took out the lead operative with a three-round burst through the secondary port, Boss. She saved the girls before our convoy even arrived.”

Vincent looked at me, a profound, fierce pride blazing in his gray eyes. He cupped my face with both hands, pulling me into a deep, desperate kiss right there in the back of the armored car, while our daughters cheered from the seats.

“You are the most incredible woman on this earth,” Vincent whispered against my lips, his voice thick with emotion. “I am the luckiest man alive.”
