Chapter 9 - When the Cold-Blooded Capo Shows His Hidden Scars

That night, the tension that had gripped the estate finally broke, leaving behind a raw, electric intimacy between them.

Unable to sleep, Sienna found Dante in his private study on the third floor. He was seated by the window, a glass of amber scotch in hand, looking out over the snow-covered forest.

“You should be resting,” Sienna said, entering quietly.

“My mind doesn't shut down easily,” Dante murmured, gesturing toward the armchair opposite him. “Sit.”

Sienna sat, pulling her silk robe tighter. “Tell me about your father. You never talk about how he died.”

Dante took a slow sip of scotch. “I was twenty-two. We were leaving an opera house downtown. A car pulled up—Santoro’s men. My father saw the muzzle flash before I did. He threw himself in front of me. He took five bullets to the chest so I could draw my weapon and survive.”

His voice cracked slightly, a fracture in his iron facade. “His last words to me were: Protect the family, Dante. Never let them see you bleed.”

Sienna’s heart ached for him. She stood up and walked over to his chair, kneeling beside him. Without thinking of rules or danger, she placed her hand over his scarred, calloused fingers.

“You’ve been protecting everyone for ten years, Dante. But who protects you?”

Dante looked at her, his icy blue eyes melting into a storm of raw emotion. “No one. Until you walked into that tea shop.”

He reached out, his hand cupping the back of her neck, pulling her upward. Sienna didn't resist. When his lips met hers, it wasn't cold or calculated—it was fierce, passionate, and desperate, a collision of two souls who had found light in the darkest corners of the world.

Sienna wound her arms around his neck, sinking into his kiss. The dangerous billionaire capo, feared by the entire city, was trembling beneath her touch, kissing her as if she were his salvation.

When they finally broke apart, both breathless, Dante rested his forehead against hers.

“This contract,” Dante whispered, his voice thick with emotion, “is no longer fake, Sienna. You are mine. And I will burn this city to ash before I let anyone harm you.”
