Chapter 10 - The Nursing Home Ambush That Shattered Everything

Monday morning brought catastrophic news.
Enzo burst into Dante’s study without knocking, his face pale with dread. “Boss. It’s Rocco Santoro. He made a move on the Oak Brook clinic.”
Sienna, who was having coffee by the window, dropped her porcelain mug. It shattered against the floor. “My father!”
“Speak, Enzo!” Dante commanded, rising instantly.
“Santoro personally led a strike team into the clinic twenty minutes ago,” Enzo said rapidly. “They overwhelmed our perimeter guards. They’ve barricaded the top floor with Miss Moretti’s father and ten staff members as hostages. Rocco sent a direct video feed.”
Dante powered on the large wall monitor.
The screen flickered to life. Rocco Santoro was standing in a hospital room, a sadistic grin on his face. Sitting in a wheelchair beside him was Marco Moretti, looking confused and frail. Rocco held a revolver casually against Marco’s temple.
“Valente!” Rocco’s raspy voice echoed through the speakers. “You took my money, you took my shipments, and you took Alberto. Now I take what’s yours. Bring the Moretti girl to the abandoned grain terminal on the South Side within one hour. Just you, her, and no security. If I see a single police cruiser or Valente soldier, the old man’s brains paint the wall.”
The screen went black.
“Dad!” Sienna screamed, falling to her knees in pure agony. “Dante, please! We have to save him! He doesn't even know what’s happening!”
Dante knelt beside her, pulling her firmly to her feet, his eyes ablaze with lethal purpose. “Listen to me, Sienna. Look at me!”

“We are going to get your father back,” Dante said with absolute, unyielding authority. “And today, Rocco Santoro will finally pay for every life he has ever destroyed.”
