Chapter 11 - THE TRAP AT THE WAREHOUSE

Before Marco could pull the trigger, Lorenzo vaulted from behind his pillar.
He tackled Marco hard to the floor.
Both men crashed into a mahogany display cabinet.
“Run, Clara!” Lorenzo roared, subduing Marco with a brutal chokehold.
Clara didn't hesitate.
She bolted through the service door into the darkened hallway.
She sprinted down the emergency stairwell, her lungs burning with every breath.
By the time she reached the ground floor, rain was soaking her clothes.
She burst out into the alleyway.
A black sedan pulled up beside her with screeching tires.
The rear door swung open.
A man wearing a silver ring on his thumb leaned out.
“Get in, Miss Vance,” a harsh voice commanded.
“Viktor Morena is expecting you.”
Clara froze in the rain.
She looked back at the towering Obsidian Citadel.
She knew what choice she had to make.
She didn't get into Morena’s car.
She turned and ran directly toward a waiting delivery truck.
Two hours later, she stood outside Morena’s abandoned dockside warehouse.
She carried a single manila envelope she had grabbed from Lorenzo’s desk during the chaos.
The backup key to the offshore ledgers.
She had taken it before the raid.
“Morena!” Clara shouted into the damp night air.
“I know you have Elena!”

A heavy metal door creaked open.
Viktor Morena stepped out of the shadows, smiling like a shark.
