Chapter 15 - A New Dawn in Brooklyn: The Wedding, The Sanctuary, and a Love That Healed a Broken Empire

One year later, the bells of St. Patrick’s Cathedral in Brooklyn rang out with joyous, resonant chimes that echoed across the five boroughs.

The grand cathedral was filled with over eight hundred guests—not mobsters and syndicate bosses, but doctors, nurses, charity directors, community leaders, and the proud employees of the Russo Foundation.

I stood at the back of the cathedral in a breathtaking, custom lace wedding gown with a cathedral-length train, holding a bouquet of white roses and lavender. Beside me stood Luca, fully recovered and wearing a sharp tuxedo, smiling proudly like a protective older brother.

“Ready, Miss Sophie?” Luca asked softly.

“Ready,” I whispered, my heart overflowing with happiness.

The organ swelled into the triumphant strains of the bridal march. The heavy wooden doors opened wide.

As I walked down the long, candlelit aisle, my eyes locked onto Antonio waiting at the altar. He looked unimaginably handsome in his bespoke black tuxedo, his dark hair neatly styled, his eyes shining with tears of absolute devotion. Beside him stood Maria, radiant in gold silk, clutching her handkerchief and smiling through joyful tears.

When I reached the altar, Antonio took my hands in his. His touch was warm, steady, and filled with a lifetime of promises kept.

“You are my miracle, Sophie,” he whispered, his voice thick with emotion.

“And you are my home, Antonio,” I replied.

Before God, his mother, and the entire city, we exchanged our vows—promises forged not in convenience, but in fire, blood, loyalty, and unconditional love. When the priest proclaimed us husband and wife, Antonio pulled me into his arms and kissed me with a passion that brought the entire cathedral to a standing ovation.

The reception at the Russo estate lasted until dawn. Children from the neighborhood clinic danced across the lawns, music filled the gardens where Maria sat happily surrounded by friends, and laughter replaced the echoes of violence that had once haunted the halls.

Late into the night, Antonio and I slipped away from the party, walking hand in hand to the quiet conservatory where our journey had truly begun.

We stood by the glass walls, looking out over the quiet harbor. Antonio wrapped his arms around me from behind, his hands resting gently over my stomach.

I placed my hands over his, smiling into the warm night air.

“Antonio?” I whispered softly.

“Yes, my love?”

“In seven months... we are going to need to convert the west guest room into a nursery.”

Antonio went completely still. He gently turned me around in his arms, his dark eyes wide with sudden, breathless shock and wondrous joy. “Sophie... truly?”

“Truly,” I beamed, taking his hand and placing it over my heart. “You’re going to be a father, Antonio.”

Tears spilled freely down his face as he dropped to his knees, wrapping his arms around my waist and pressing a gentle, reverent kiss against my stomach.

“I promise you,” Antonio whispered, looking up at me with eyes full of pure light and peace. “Our child will only ever know a father who loves, a mother who heals, and an empire built on hope.”

May you like

He rose and pulled me into a warm, eternal embrace as the morning sun broke over the Brooklyn skyline, bathing our world in the golden light of a brand-new dawn.
