Chapter 9 - The Mother’s Hidden Diary In The Bank Vault

The following morning, armed with federal search warrants, Harrison and I entered the private underground vaults of Riggs National Bank in Washington D.C.

Inside a safe deposit box that had remained sealed since my mother’s death, we found my mother’s personal leather-bound diary.

The pages contained handwritten records, dates, and secretly recorded audio tapes of Marcus Vance threatening my mother in our kitchen twelve years ago, explicitly admitting to sabotaging my father’s brakes and stealing the incorporation charters.

Reading my mother’s words—the silent, agonizing courage she had maintained to protect Ethan and me from being murdered in our sleep—shattered the last remaining walls of grief in my heart.

“She fought for us every single day, Harrison,” I whispered, clutching the diary against my chest in the quiet vault.

Harrison wrapped his arms around me, pulling me gently against his broad chest, kissing the top of my head.

“And today, Claire, we win the war for her,” Harrison vowed softly.
