Chapter 15 - The Dawn of a New Empire and a Vow Forever Kept

One year later.
The grand restaurant La Corona was once again filled with light, music, and the finest wine in Italy. But tonight, it was not open to the corrupt politicians or arrogant mobsters of the past.
Tonight, La Corona was closed for the private celebration of the baptism of Lorenzo Roberto Rossi, the healthy, dark-haired infant son of Don Giovanni and Lady Isadora.
The tables were covered in white silk and overflowing with fresh white roses and lemons. Emilio, the head chef, walked through the dining room beaming with pride, personally serving his finest culinary masterpieces to the guests—loyal friends, family, and trusted allies.
Near the corner table—the very table where a crystal glass had shattered, where ice had been poured, and where an empire had been rewritten—Gio stood holding his six-month-old son in his arms.
The baby had Gio’s dark, curious eyes and Isadora’s calm, fearless expression.
Isadora walked over to them, dressed in a breathtaking royal-blue dress that cascaded to the floor. She looked radiant, powerful, and deeply happy.
She leaned against Gio’s shoulder, watching their son reach out his tiny hand to grasp Gio’s silver signet ring.
“He has your grip,” Isadora teased softly.
“And he has your eyes,” Gio replied, looking down at his wife with infinite love. “Heaven help anyone who tries to cross him.”
Gio handed the baby gently to Luca, who was smiling proudly alongside Matteo, before turning his full attention to Isadora.
He took a glass of vintage 1982 Barolo wine from a passing waiter. He held it up to the candlelight, watching the rich red liquid swirl against the crystal.
Then, with a mischievous, devastatingly handsome smirk, Gio reached into the silver ice bucket on the table, picked up a single cube of ice, and held it above his wine.
“Do you remember what you told me at this exact table, Miss Marino?” Gio asked softly.
Isadora laughed, the sound warm and musical. “I told you that your father warned me you would become that man.”
Gio dropped the ice into his wine with a soft splash.
He placed the glass on the table, stepped close to her, and wrapped his arm securely around her waist, pulling her flush against his heart.
“And what kind of man did I become, Isadora?” he murmured, his dark eyes looking down into hers with absolute devotion.
Isadora raised her hand, her fingers gently caressing the strong line of his jaw, the black diamond on her finger sparkling brilliantly under the chandeliers.
“You became the man who gave me a home,” she whispered. “The man who avenged our families. And the only man I will love for the rest of my life.”

Gio smiled—a true, open, beautiful smile—and leaned down to seal his promise with a kiss that tasted of sweet wine, victory, and an eternal, unshakeable peace across the Mediterranean coast.
