Chapter 12 - Scars, Truth, and Surrender

The battle of Capri ended within twenty minutes.

Don Moretti, broken and bleeding, was dragged away by the Carbone and Bellini enforcers to face syndicate justice. The remaining Moretti assets were divided and absorbed by the Rossi-Vance alliance.

By the time dusk fell over the Amalfi Coast, the storm had finally cleared, leaving behind a sky of bruised purple and burning gold.

Inside the master suite of Villa dei Sogni, the roaring fireplace cast warm, flickering light across the high stone walls.

Gio sat on the edge of the large leather sofa, stripped to his waist. A deep graze along his ribs was bleeding, and his knuckles were bruised and raw.

Isadora knelt beside him, a bowl of warm water and antiseptic bandages on the table. She gently dabbed the antiseptic against his wound.

Gio hissed softly through his teeth, his hand instinctively reaching out to grip her thigh. His touch sent a tremor of pure heat through her veins.

“I’m sorry,” she whispered softly, her eyes looking at the myriad of old scars crisscrossing his muscular chest and back—the violent history of a boy who had to become a monster to survive. “I know it hurts.”

“Nothing you do hurts me, Isadora,” Gio replied, his voice rough, thick with an intimacy that made the room feel suddenly smaller.

She finished taping the bandage, then looked up into his eyes. Her hands rested gently on his bare chest, feeling the steady, powerful rhythm of his heartbeat.

“It’s over, Gio,” she said softly. “Your father has justice. The empire is safe.”

Gio reached up, his large, scarred hand cupping her cheek, his thumb gently caressing the small, fading cut along her jaw—the cut from the broken glass on the night they met.

“The empire means nothing without you,” Gio said, his voice dropping into a raw, vulnerable confession. “When I saw you hanging from that balcony... when I saw you on that helipad... I realized that my father didn't send you to save my syndicate. He sent you to save my soul.”

Tears softened the fierce amber of Isadora’s eyes. For twenty years, she had lived as a ghost, a soldier without a home, driven solely by duty and vengeance. But sitting here in his arms, feeling his warmth and devotion, she knew she had finally found where she belonged.

“You’re not a monster, Giovanni,” she whispered, leaning closer until their foreheads touched. “You’re the man who fought through hell to protect what’s yours.”

“And you are mine,” Gio declared, his lips brushing against hers with overwhelming tenderness. “Body, mind, and soul.”

“Always,” she answered.

Gio wrapped his arms around her, lifting her easily into his lap. As the fire crackled and the distant waves crashed against the cliffs of Ravello, they surrendered completely to the passion they had denied for so long—a union sealed not by syndicate law, but by true, unyielding love.
