Chapter 12 - The Kidnapping and the Vow of Blood

The peace was shattered on a Tuesday afternoon.

Khloe was leaving the medical center after finalizing the scholarship fund she had established in her father's memory when two unmarked vans cornered her security detail.

Despite Frankie’s valiant effort, four heavily armed mercenaries overwhelmed them with stun grenades. Khloe was disarmed, bound, and thrown into the back of a van before bystanders could even dial the police.

When Enzo received the call from a wounded Frankie, the glass in his hand shattered into dust.

Don Antonio Marcone, desperate and facing life imprisonment from federal indictments, had taken Khloe to an abandoned 19th-century cathedral on the city’s south outskirts.

Marcone’s voice came over Enzo’s phone: “You took everything from me, Enzo! My docks, my money, my reputation! Bring the five million bonds and the deeds to the North Side territory to St. Jude’s cathedral in thirty minutes, or I will send her back to you in a wooden box!”

Enzo didn't scream. He didn't curse. His voice turned into a whisper of pure, unadulterated annihilation.

“Marcone,” Enzo said, his words freezing the line. “If you touch a single hair on her head, I will burn down everything bearing your family name. I am coming.”

Enzo mobilized every single soldier loyal to the Bianke banner. A convoy of thirty black vehicles swept across the city like a black storm.
