Chapter 11 - The Secret Trust Fund Exposed

While my parents were facing the destruction of their lives, Grandpa Arthur's private investigator, Detective Vance, had uncovered even darker secrets hidden within the family’s accounts.
We sat in the study, the fire warming the room as Vance presented his findings.
"Madison, we found a secondary account registered under your father’s firm," the detective said, sliding a bank statement toward me. "Six months ago, your mother, Helen, took out a fifty-thousand-dollar life insurance policy on your son, Noah."
I froze, the cold cup of tea slipping from my fingers, splashing onto the mahogany table. "An insurance policy... on my baby?"
"Yes," Vance nodded, his face grim. "And she had named herself as the sole beneficiary. They weren't just planning on declaring you unfit to get the trust, Madison. They were preparing for the possibility of Noah... having an accident. They had already researched pediatric heart clinics and drafted a story about a 'genetic defect' to explain his potential passing."
A wave of pure, visceral nausea washed over me. I looked at Noah, who was sleeping peacefully in his swing near the fire. My own mother, the woman who had given me birth, had placed a price tag on my son's life.
She had looked at my child, not with love, but as a financial backup plan.
"They are monsters," I whispered, my voice shaking with a raw, primal fury.

Grandpa Arthur stood up, his face a mask of absolute, terrifying stone. He walked over, knelt beside my chair, and took my trembling hands in his.
"They will never touch him, Madison," he said, his voice quiet, yet carrying the absolute weight of a king. "I have already turned these files over to the FBI. This is no longer just a state fraud case; this is a federal conspiracy to commit child endangerment and fraud. They are going to prison for a very, very long time."
