Chapter 10 - The Complete Collapse of the Vance Dynasty

With the mercenary audio recordings delivered to the federal prosecutors, Camille Vance’s bail was instantly revoked without the possibility of bond.

The following morning, federal marshals raided the Vance penthouse. A crowd of hundreds of onlookers and international news crews gathered on the street to witness the spectacle.

Camille was led out of the building in handcuffs, wearing a prison-issue orange jumpsuit instead of her champagne silk dresses. Her hair was unwashed, her makeup gone, her face twisted in a mask of impotent, screeching rage.

“Get those cameras away from me!” she shrieked, spitting toward the journalists. “Gabriel Moretti framed me! He is a monster! I am an aristocrat! You can’t put me in a cage!”

The reporters didn't show an ounce of sympathy. Flashbulbs blinded her as federal agents shoved her into the back of an armored transport van.

At the same time, the federal bankruptcy court ordered the total liquidation of all Vance family assets.

Their country estates in the Berkshires, their private yachts in Newport, their art collections, and their offshore accounts were seized by the federal government to pay restitution to the victims of their counterfeit pharmaceutical trial.

Arthur Vance, sitting in his solitary cell awaiting trial for racketeering, securities fraud, and medical manslaughter, received the final blow when his corporate lawyers resigned en masse, citing non-payment of legal fees.

The Vance dynasty, which had spent fifty years terrorizing Boston with stolen wealth, had been completely wiped off the face of the earth in less than three weeks.
