Chapter 14 - The First Breath of Our Redemption

Waaaaah! Waaaaah!
The sound of our daughter's first breath echoed through the penthouse like the sweetest symphony ever composed.
Exhausted, drenched in sweat, and gasping for air, I collapsed back against the pillows, weeping tears of pure, unadulterated joy.
Adrian carefully cleared the baby's airway, wrapped her in a warm, sterile towel, and held her against his chest.
The most ruthless billionaire in New York was sobbing openly, tears streaming down his face as he looked down at the tiny, perfect human being he had just delivered with his own hands.
"She's here, Claire," Adrian choked out, his voice trembling with reverent awe. "She's perfect. She's completely healthy."
He gently laid our daughter on my bare chest.
The moment the baby felt my skin, her frantic cries softened into quiet snuffles. She opened her tiny dark eyes—eyes that were an exact mirror of her father's—and reached out with miniature fingers, curling them tightly around Adrian’s thumb.
Adrian fell to his knees beside the bed, burying his face against our daughter's blanket and my hand, his shoulders shaking with silent, cathartic sobs.
"What should we name her?" Adrian whispered, looking up at me with eyes full of worship.
I stroked our baby's soft dark hair, smiling through my tears. "Grace. Grace Moretti. Because she brought grace and forgiveness back into our lives."
"Grace Moretti," Adrian repeated softly, kissing our daughter's tiny forehead, then pressing a tender, lingering kiss to my lips. "Welcome to the world, my sweet Grace."
An hour later, the emergency medical team finally broke through the snowdrifts, confirming that both Grace and I were in perfect health.
As the morning sun rose over Manhattan, casting a brilliant golden light across the fresh white snow, Adrian sat in the rocking chair by the panoramic window, holding Grace against his chest, softly humming a lullaby as our daughter slept peacefully in his arms.
