Chapter 11 - Unmasking the Deception

While the media firestorm consumed the city, Marco Bellini was executing the final phase of Adrian's plan.

At a private luxury clinic in Connecticut where Vanessa had checked in to avoid reporters, federal agents and local police arrived with an arrest warrant.

When Vanessa saw the flashing red and blue lights through the window, she attempted to flee through the service elevators, only to find Marco standing calmly in her path.

"Mr. Bellini!" Vanessa shrieked, clutching her designer handbag. "Tell Adrian to call off these animals! He cannot do this to me! His father swore an oath to protect me!"

Marco looked at her with utter disdain, stepping aside as two federal marshals placed handcuffs around her wrists.

"Mr. Moretti’s father protected a grieving orphan, Miss Russo," Marco said coldly. "You turned into a parasite. And your greatest mistake was threatening the woman Adrian loves."

"He doesn't love her!" Vanessa screamed, thrashing against the officers as they led her down the marble corridor. "He married her out of convenience! He will always belong to me!"

"He never belonged to you," Marco replied calmly. "You were simply a ghost he forgot to banish. But today, the exorcism is complete."

Within two hours, news broke across every financial and entertainment channel:

VANESSA RUSSO ARRESTED ON FEDERAL WIRE FRAUD AND EXTORTION CHARGES.

The toxic shadow that had hung over our marriage for three years was permanently erased.

Back at the penthouse, the front door clicked open.

Adrian walked in, shedding his jacket and tossing his keys onto the console. He looked exhausted, the lines around his eyes deep with fatigue, but when his gaze found me standing by the panoramic windows, his face softened instantly.

I didn't say a word. I simply walked across the living room and threw my arms around his neck.

Adrian froze for half a second in sheer surprise before his powerful arms wrapped around my waist, lifting me slightly as he buried his face into the curve of my neck, breathing in my scent with a ragged sigh.

"Thank you," I whispered against his ear. "Thank you for defending me."

"I will spend the rest of my life defending you, Claire," he murmured, his hands gently cradling the small of my back, holding me against him as if he would never let go. "I don't care about the press, I don't care about the company. I only care about you and our baby."

For the first time in sixty-three days, the penthouse didn't feel like a gilded cage.

It felt like home.
