Chapter 15 - The Royal Syndicate Wedding and a Vow Written in Forever (The End)

St. Patrick’s Cathedral had never witnessed a wedding so magnificent, so emotional, and so historic.

Outside, Fifth Avenue was closed to traffic. Thousands of citizens, service workers, and supporters lined the streets, waving flowers and banners celebrating the union of Matteo Duca and Lena Carter.

Inside the grand cathedral, golden candlelight illuminated the soaring gothic arches. Sitting in the front rows were hotel maids, cooks, and doormen sitting proudly alongside world leaders, reformed syndicate patriarchs, and federal judges.

The grand organ swelled with the triumphant chords of the bridal march.

The heavy double doors opened.

Maya walked down the aisle first as the miniature maid of honor, looking adorable in a pink tulle dress, scattering white rose petals with a wide, beaming smile.

Then, Lena Carter appeared.

The entire cathedral rose in awe.

Lena was breathtaking. Her custom wedding gown was an ethereal masterpiece of hand-sewn lace, pearls, and silk, featuring a ten-foot royal train that swept gracefully behind her. On her head rested a delicate platinum tiara woven with sapphires, and her dark veil framed a face glowing with pure, radiant happiness.

Waiting at the altar, looking exceptionally handsome in a tailored black tuxedo, was Matteo. As he watched Lena walk toward him, the feared mafia king openly wiped a tear from his cheek—a display of pure, unashamed love that stunned every guest in the room.

Lena reached the altar and placed her hand into Matteo’s. His grip was warm, strong, and protective—the same hand that had offered her a coat when the entire world wanted her on her knees.

The Archbishop began the ceremony, but when the time came for the vows, Matteo took Lena’s hands and spoke without looking at any paper:

"Lena, on the night we met, you were told that you were just the help. But to me, you were the only truth in a room full of lies. You became my anchor, my strength, and my home. Today, before God and this city, I crown you not just as my wife, but as the queen of my heart and the ruler of my life. What is mine is yours—my name, my empire, my soul, forever."

Lena smiled through her tears, her voice ringing clear and full of unshakable love through the cathedral:

"Matteo, you stepped out of the darkness and gave me your coat when I was freezing in shame. You taught me that I didn't have to fight the world alone. With you, I am safe. With you, I am loved. I promise to stand by your side through every storm, to cherish you, and to build a life of peace and justice together. You are my forever."

Matteo slipped the platinum wedding band onto her finger, and Lena placed the Duca crest ring onto his.

"By the power vested in me," the Archbishop declared with a warm smile, "I now pronounce you husband and wife. You may kiss the bride."

Matteo lifted Lena’s veil, cupped her beautiful face in his hands, and kissed her with a deep, breathless passion that brought the entire cathedral to its feet in thunderous, standing applause.

Hand in hand, Matteo and Lena Duca walked down the aisle as husband and wife, lifting Maya between them into the golden sunlight waiting outside.
