Chapter 12 - Dominic Unleashed: The Fall of the Moretti Syndicate

At 4:00 AM, the cold rain battered the rusted iron roofs of the Moretti shipping warehouse at South Port Harbor.
Lorenzo Moretti paced back and forth near a wooden crate, clutching his phone, screaming into the receiver. Beside him, Priscilla Vance sat shivering in an expensive fur coat, looking terrified as the minutes ticked past without word from the hospital hit squad.
"Why haven't they called?!" Priscilla shrieked. "They were supposed to have the boy two hours ago!"
"Shut up!" Lorenzo roared, smashing his glass against the concrete floor.
Suddenly, the massive steel roll-up doors of the warehouse were ripped from their hydraulic hinges by two armored Relli tactical vehicles crashing through the entrance.
Before the Moretti guards could react, a dozen flashbang grenades detonated in blinding, concussive fury.
Dozens of Relli tactical operators flooded the warehouse, disarming and subduing the disoriented Moretti enforcers in less than sixty seconds.
Through the smoke and falling rain, Dominic Relli walked into the warehouse. He wore a long black wool overcoat, his eyes burning with the wrath of an avenging god.
Lorenzo Moretti fell to his knees, dropping his gun, raising his trembling hands in the air. "Relli! Wait! We can make a deal! We can divide the harbor territories—"
Dominic stopped two feet in front of him, looking down at the groveling boss with absolute disgust.
"You targeted a sick child in a hospital bed, Lorenzo," Dominic said, his voice chilling the warehouse to its foundation. "You violated the sacred code of this city. There are no deals for cowards."
Dominic signaled with his hand. Federal marshals and state police detectives—led by the evidence dossiers Josie had assembled—swarmed into the warehouse, snapping steel handcuffs onto Lorenzo Moretti.
"Lorenzo Moretti, you are under arrest for attempted murder, domestic terrorism, and international arms trafficking," the lead federal agent announced, dragging the screaming mob boss away.
Dominic then turned his gaze toward the corner of the warehouse, where Priscilla Vance was cowering behind a stack of wooden pallets, sobbing uncontrollably.
"Mr. Relli... Dominic... please!" Priscilla begged, crawling on her knees across the wet concrete, her face covered in dirt and tears. "I didn't want them to hurt the boy! I was just angry! I wanted my job back! Please have mercy on me!"
Dominic looked down at her with cold, merciless finality.
"You told Josephine she belonged on the street," Dominic said softly. "You were wrong. You belong in a cage."
He turned to the federal agents. "Take her. Ensure she faces the maximum sentence for conspiracy to commit capital murder."

As Priscilla was dragged out into the rain, screaming and wailing into the night, Dominic looked up at the breaking dawn on the eastern horizon.
The underworld war was over. The city was cleansed. And now, the only battle that mattered was waiting for him at the hospital.
