Chapter 11 - The Ambush at the Medical Wing

At 2:30 AM, while Toby slept peacefully under the influence of his pre-op sedatives with Mrs. Hattie resting in the adjoining suite, the hospital’s auxiliary power grid suddenly flickered.
Dominic, who had been sitting in an armchair beside Josie, was on his feet in a fraction of a second.
His communicator buzzed. It was Commander Ross.
"Chairman, we have a breach on the ground-level service elevator. Six armed Moretti hitmen led by Lorenzo Moretti’s primary lieutenant. They cut the primary security feed."
"Execute containment protocol Delta," Dominic ordered coldly. "Do not let a single one reach this corridor."
Dominic turned to Josie, his face transforming into an impenetrable mask of war. He drew a sleek, customized black 9mm handgun from his shoulder holster, checking the chamber with smooth, deadly muscle memory.
"Stay inside this room with Toby and Hattie," Dominic commanded, his voice vibrating with absolute authority. "Lock the reinforced steel door. Do not open it for anyone except my voice."
"Dominic, be careful," Josie pleaded, grabbing his forearm, her eyes filled with terror for his safety.
Dominic paused, looked down at her hand, and then pulled her swiftly against his chest, capturing her lips in a deep, fierce, intoxicating kiss that stole the breath from her lungs.
"Nothing will ever take me away from you, Josephine," Dominic whispered against her lips. "I will end this tonight."
He stepped into the corridor, and the heavy security door clicked shut, locking behind him.
In the dimly lit executive hallway, five Relli tactical operators formed a protective perimeter. The service elevator doors at the end of the hall pried open with a screech of metal, and six heavily armed Moretti mercenaries stepped out, automatic rifles raised.
"Relli!" the lead mercenary shouted. "Moretti sends his regards!"
Before the mercenary could raise his rifle, Dominic stepped into the center of the hall, firing three perfectly placed shots with terrifying precision. The lead hitman collapsed instantly.
Gunfire erupted across the corridor, bullets chewing into the reinforced concrete walls. Dominic moved with lethal, tactical genius—ducking behind structural pillars, returning fire with ruthless efficiency, coordinating his security team like a grandmaster on a chessboard.
Within four minutes of deafening violence, all six Moretti operatives lay neutralized on the floor.

Dominic stood amid the drifting gunsmoke, completely untouched. He lowered his weapon, stepped over the fallen mercenaries, and looked at Commander Ross.
"Lorenzo Moretti is waiting at his docks warehouse for news of this strike," Dominic said, his voice dripping with lethal coldness. "Assemble the entire Relli strike force. We are going to wipe the Moretti family off the map."
