Chapter 11 - Taking the Throne

The silence that followed was absolute.
Thomas stared at me, dumbfounded. "You? But Claire... you don't have an Ivy League MBA. You don't have corporate executive experience..."
"I have something far more valuable than an MBA, Father," I replied calmly. "For the last seven years, while Ryan was losing millions at poker tables, I was working on the front lines. I managed logistics for two retail chains. I know how inventory moves, I know how supply chains operate under pressure, and I know how to treat workers with respect because I was one of them."
Julian stepped in beside me, his voice carrying the full weight of his empire. "And Miss Bennett will have the entire board, legal infrastructure, and financial backing of Mercer Holdings behind her. As of today, Bennett Logistics will be rebranded as Aegis Global Supply, with Claire Bennett serving as President and Chief Executive Officer."
Marcus Vance placed the fountain pen on the table in front of Thomas.
"Sign the transfer of controlling equity, Mr. Bennett," Marcus said smoothly. "Or we walk away right now, and the foreclosure proceedings begin at noon."
Thomas didn't hesitate. With trembling hands, he picked up the heavy gold pen and signed his name across the final lines of the acquisition contract. He passed the pen to Ryan, who blindly scribbled his signature across the embezzlement restitution agreement, weeping silently into his sleeves.
When the final document was stamped by the corporate notary, Julian picked up the folder and handed it directly to me.
"Congratulations, CEO Bennett," Julian said with a warm, genuine smile.
Thomas slowly pushed himself up from the floor, leaning heavily against the table. "Claire... can we... can your mother and I at least come to your wedding?"
I looked at the man who had traded my happiness for Ryan’s lies, the man who had let me stand in grease and smoke while he entertained guests.

"You will receive an invitation in the mail, Thomas," I said quietly, no longer calling him Father. "Whether you are seated in the front row or at the very back next to the door will depend entirely on how you behave from this moment forward."
Without waiting for his response, I turned on my heels and walked out of the boardroom, the sound of my Louboutins echoing with power and purpose across the marble floors.
