Chapter 7 - Cinderella in Kevlar and the Tactical War Room

The Marcel command center beneath the Brooklyn Navy Yard was a subterranean fortress of reinforced titanium, humming server towers, and glowing tactical holographic maps.

Fifty armed operators in tactical combat gear snapped to attention the moment Dante stepped through the biometric airlock.

Beside him walked Mara.

The whispers among the hardened mercenaries were instantaneous, but the moment Dante cast a single, freezing glance across the perimeter, the room fell into absolute discipline.

"Status," Dante commanded, striding to the central holographic projection table.

"Vance has severed the southern fiber lines," Roman reported, punching keys into the tactical terminal. "He’s using military jamming tech provided by corrupt contractors in Washington. We can't trace their central server without exposing our secondary firewall."

Mara leaned over the glass console.

Her eyes scanned the rapid cascading lines of encrypted data, ledger accounts, and satellite telemetry. Her legal and forensic training kicked into overdrive.

"He's not jamming the southern lines to blind you," Mara said suddenly, pointing her finger at a blinking data cluster in the Hudson shipping corridor.

The room turned to look at the 'housekeeper.'

"Excuse me, ma'am?" Roman asked, his brow furrowing.

"Look at the data packet cadence," Mara explained, her voice steady, authoritative, and sharp. "Victor always runs a double-ledger distraction. In 2018, when he raided the Queens Teamsters fund, he threw three false audits at the state attorney while routing eighty million dollars through a cold-storage server disguised as a municipal sanitation contract in Staten Island."

She tapped the touchscreen, isolating a low-frequency data pulse masquerading as a harbor water-treatment telemetry feed.

"There," Mara said, her eyes blazing. "That's not water treatment. That's a high-bandwidth encrypted command link. Victor Vance isn't in Queens. He's operating out of the abandoned grain terminal on the Gowanus Canal."

The tactical room was dead silent.

Roman stared at the screen, running a trace on the coordinates. Five seconds later, the terminal chimed green.

MATCH CONFIRMED: COMMAND CIPHER DETECTED.

Roman looked up at Mara with a mixture of shock and sheer reverence. "Jesus Christ. She found him in two minutes."

Dante didn't say a word. He stepped behind Mara, placed both hands on her shoulders, and leaned down until his breath stirred the hair near her ear.

"You are a godsend, my queen," Dante whispered.

He looked up at his commanders. "Suit up. We leave in twenty minutes."
