Grant stood up from the velvet sofa. His face was flushed with anger, his eyes darting between the staring guests and the towering patriarch standing before him. The social mask he had worn for years was fracturing, revealing the petulant, vicious coward underneath.
Grant took two aggressive steps forward, closing the distance until his finger was inches from Massimo’s face.

"You have crossed the line, old man!" Grant snarled, his voice rising to mask his own dread. "You don't come into my private club and inspect my daughter! I am the head of this household! I am the master of my family! You have no legal rights here, and you have no right to interfere in how I run my home!"
Behind him, Vanessa sneered, picking up her wine glass with the broken yellow star floating at the bottom. "Tell him, Grant. The old gangster thinks he still owns this city. Isabella signed her life to you, and that brat belongs to us!"
