Chapter 15 - The Family We Were Meant to Be

Rosamund covered her mouth with both hands, tears of pure joy glistening in her eyes.
From behind the rose bushes, Lorelai and Gemma suddenly popped out, holding a massive banner painted on bedsheets that read: ‘SAY YES, ROSA!’
Rosamund laughed through her tears, looking from the excited little girls to the man kneeling before her with an open, devoted heart.
“Yes,” Rosamund whispered, her voice ringing clear and joyful through the evening air. “A thousand times, yes!”
Chadworth slipped the ring onto her finger, stood up, and lifted her into the air, spinning her around as Lorelai and Gemma rushed forward, wrapping their arms around their legs in a massive, tangled family hug.
One year later, the grand lawn of the Prescott Estate was filled with laughter, music, and celebration.
There were no paparazzi, no high-society social climbers, and no corporate networking. The intimate wedding ceremony was attended only by true friends, Prosecutor David Harrison, Marcus Vance, and the dozens of families whose lives had been saved by the foundation.
Lorelai stood proudly as the Maid of Honor, while seven-year-old Gemma served as the Flower Girl, scattering white rose petals along the stone aisle.
Rosamund walked down the aisle in a graceful, flowing ivory gown, her arm linked with retired Detective Robert Miller, who smiled proudly like a father walking his daughter toward a bright, unshadowed future.
Chadworth stood at the altar, looking at his bride with tears of absolute gratitude.
As they exchanged their vows under the warm summer sun, Chadworth made a solemn promise before God and his family:
“I promise to love you, honor you, and protect you as fiercely as you protected our daughters. I promise that our home will always be a sanctuary of truth, safety, and endless warmth. You were our guardian angel when we were lost in the dark, and today, you are my wife, my partner, and the beat of my heart.”
Rosamund smiled, her hands resting gently in his.
“I promise to stand beside you through every storm, to cherish our daughters with every breath I take, and to build a life where love is never questioned and kindness is our greatest strength. We are whole, Chadworth. We are finally home.”
As the minister pronounced them husband and wife, Chadworth pulled Rosamund into a deep, loving kiss while Lorelai and Gemma cheered and clapped with pure joy.
The cameras that had once monitored fear in a house of secrets were now recording first dance recitals, birthday celebrations, and bedtime stories. The mansion was no longer a gilded fortress of suspicion, but a vibrant home filled with light, laughter, and unbreakable devotion.
