Chapter 11 - A Father's Rage Unleashed

“Please, Mr. Prescott, stand up,” Rosamund said softly, her voice trembling as she rushed forward to help him up. “You don't need to do that.”

Chadworth rose, his eyes swimming with tears as he looked at the woman who had saved everything he held dear.

“I almost destroyed you,” Chadworth choked out, his voice cracking with emotion. “I listened to that viper’s lies. I questioned your integrity. While I was flying around the world chasing wealth, you were standing between my children and absolute evil. You took her abuse, you bore her threats, and you stayed to protect Eleanor’s memory. How can I ever repay a debt like that?”

“You don't owe me anything, Chadworth,” Rosamund answered gently, looking at Lorelai and Gemma, who were clinging to her apron. “Eleanor was the kindest soul I ever knew. When my sister Clara died under suspicious circumstances, Eleanor was the only person in high society who believed me. She helped me look for answers before she fell ill herself. When she realized Sabina was infiltrating your home, Eleanor made me promise: if anything happened to her, I would watch over her little girls. I wasn't just doing a job, Chadworth. I was keeping a sacred promise to a friend.”

Lorelai stepped between them, taking Rosamund’s hand in her left and Chadworth’s hand in her right.

“Rosa is family, Daddy,” Lorelai said with a wisdom far beyond her nine years. “She never let us feel alone. Even when it was dark, she stayed.”

Chadworth knelt down once more, wrapping his arms around both of his daughters and pulling Rosamund into the embrace. For the first time in three long, painful years since Eleanor’s passing, the cavernous Prescott mansion did not feel cold or empty. It felt full of warmth, truth, and genuine love.

Over the next forty-eight hours, the full extent of the conspiracy was dismantled by federal and state authorities.

Julian Croft, facing consecutive life sentences for corporate fraud and murder-for-hire, provided a full, signed confession detailing how he and Sabina had systematically poisoned Clara Vance and Eleanor Prescott using rare, unregulated synthetic compounds designed to mimic natural heart failure.

Every legal document Sabina had forced into the estate’s trusts was nullified by emergency judicial decree. The Prescott Star diamond was safely recovered from Julian Croft’s private vault and returned to its rightful place.
