Chapter 18 - HELENA WITHOUT THE HOUSE

Helena had chaired the Maldera Family Office’s household committee for seventeen years.
She lost that role.
Not because a criminal court ordered it.
Because trustees and family directors no longer trusted her with expenditures or child-related household decisions.
Professional administrator replaced her.
Helena called it:
“Being erased.”
I said:
“You are sixty-four. You have sisters, cousins, investments, friends, a church, charities, nieces, nephews, and a house. If one committee was your entire identity, that was another problem.”
She did not speak to me for two months.
Then called.
May you like
“You were right.”
I almost hung up from shock.
