Chapter 10 - The Secret Mistress Exposed In The Corporate Accounting Ledgers

While Alejandro sat in the municipal jail awaiting his formal indictment for violating his restraining order, my forensic accounting team made an even more explosive discovery that destroyed the very last shred of Alejandro’s manufactured innocence.

Sofia Ramos walked into my executive penthouse office at Ruta Norte carrying a red confidential file folder.

“Mariana,” Sofia said, taking a seat across from my desk with a grim expression. “We finished tracing the secondary offshore debit cards linked to Alejandro’s canceled expense accounts. It turns out Teresa wasn't the only person he was financing with company money.”

I raised an eyebrow, closing my laptop. “What did you find?”

Sofia opened the file, sliding a series of bank statements, real estate lease agreements, and high-resolution surveillance photographs across the mahogany desk.

“For the past two and a half years, Alejandro has been maintaining a private luxury apartment in Polanco,” Sofia explained, tapping the photos. “The lease was paid directly through our third-party logistics fuel subsidy account. The resident of that apartment is a twenty-four-year-old former marketing intern named Paulina Vega.”

I picked up the photographs.

They showed Alejandro and Paulina vacationing in Cancun, dining at three-star Michelin restaurants, and shopping at luxury boutiques in Miami—all charged directly to Ruta Norte corporate accounts.

“Furthermore,” Sofia added, “Alejandro promised Paulina that as soon as he ‘secured complete ownership’ of Ruta Norte through the planned corporate restructuring, he would divorce you, kick you out of the Lomas mansion, and install Paulina as the new Chief Marketing Officer.”

I looked at the photos, feeling not pain, but a deep, refreshing sense of liberation.

Alejandro had never loved me.

He had never even respected me.

He had seen me as an engine—a financial machine that he and his parasitic family could exploit while he lived a double life of unearned luxury and deceit.

“Where is Ms. Vega right now?” I asked calmly.

“She is currently living in the Polanco apartment,” Sofia replied. “She has no idea that Alejandro has been fired, arrested, and bankrupt.”

I stood up, adjusting the lapels of my tailored blazer.

“Send Licenciado Silva with the eviction writ for the Polanco apartment,” I instructed. “And forward this entire file, along with the luxury gift receipts, directly to the Family Court judge presiding over our divorce hearing tomorrow morning.”

I smiled coldly.

“Let’s make sure Alejandro’s divorce hearing is an absolute bloodbath.”
